I installed my 310 mSATA drive in my new Lenovo X220 following the manual and some online ressources. I had no problem to fix it but reassembling parts, I had trouble to fit the keyboard back in, as the smooth move backward with my palms to engage the keyboard was not so obvious. I didn't take a close look before taking it off so I'm kind of worried by the space left between keyboard and palmrest now, is this normal ? do your X220 keyboard fits that way ?
Here is how it looks now :

That's normal. I've had a similar thing on all the ThinkPads that I remember having removed the keyboard from (excepting the 750cs and 600-series units, which used different designs.)

    I wouldn't worry about it.

EDIT: I think it's normal. There's usually a bit of a gap, but I can't really tell from the angle how much there is. If you're unsure, take it off and try it again. :D

I found it easier to slot the palm rest and keyboard together, then put it back on.

Take it out and try it again.
I had the same problem when I took my keyboard out, but after a bit of a fiddle it went back nicely.

Thanks ZaZ, it helped, it's not perfect but it's near better. There is less spacing.

I can't say for the X220 specifically, but my X201 (now gone) and X200 have a "similar issue" but I've never had the keyboard pop out of the palmrest.

That was probably due to the crack in the side of that X201. When I picked it up by the front right corner, you could see the gap expand a little. I haven't seen the issue in either of my 220(s) and I've re-seated the keyboard(s) a couple times.
