I want to add another 4GBs memory to my X220. What are the required specs, and where do you recommend buying it?

    Thanks.

Any kit from a reputable manufacturer. If you can, try to find a brick and mortar store IMO as Newegg makes you pay RMA fees for DOA items.

Yes, I would second this. Bought a stick of RAM from Newegg and it was DOA when I received it and tried using it in my laptop. Upon return, Newegg charged me a $6 "restocking" fee. Were they really going to "restock" this RAM? No, of course not, but they charge the fee anyway.

VERY ridiculous practice for DOA items. The explanation I got when I questioned it was:

"We are not responsible...."...really? What a great business model...

Try chatting with them. Just explain how you think it's unfair that by the time you pay the restocking fee and the shipping, it amounts to a pretty hefty percentage of the cost, considering it was DOA and all. I've gotten them to waive the restocking fee and pick up the shipping on items that were not defective, though I'm probably more charming than you are.

Wow, guess I will be taking newegg off my list of venders. Thats just crazy. I don't buy HD's from them since they well plain suck at packing HD's but this I did not now. Thanks for posting that.

if you get the RMA via a phone rep you don't have to pay the fee. they even pay for shipping back. if you use the webform try to call newegg up and explain, they will refund it to your account. newegg has the best customer service out of any online retail store in my exp, and i've ordered a ton of stuff from them.
their webform is just not good at determining when you should get a full refund, it is a roboform after all.
