    So the Premium HD means IPX? What is "mini SSD capable"?

    How did you get to $1584 from $1188 with only the $37.50 IPS upgrade.

    Are you not offered any config with a 1yr depot warranty?

    Thanks for posting all this up.

    im kinda startled with the price.
    according to all reviews, 1299$ was the cost of x220 with IPS, i5, 4gb ram, 6cell battery.
    now you are saying that much weaker spec, including your student discount (?), costs 1188$? :( and the listed price is 1584$?!

    thats not good

    i3 upgrade to Intel Core i5-2410M only $37;
    4gb ram is $30 more;
    6cell is $15 more.

    Of course, those are discounted price.

    1188 is from 1584 after ~20% off with edu discount. Unfortunately, there is no 1yr warranty option available for this order.

    The warranty period of the posted spec is 3 years.

    When I ordered Thinkpad from Lenovo in the past, the standard warranty period is 1 year. Adding another 2 years will ad $100+, depending on what kind of warranty you pick.

    And rarely would you buy laptops from Lenovo at listed price. Typically they would have "save XXX" promotion, knocking one or two hundred off the list prices, and then there would be coupons and additional student/shareholder discounts.

    Ok... upgrading to IPS cost only $37.50? Only an idot would not pick such an upgrade...

    Question to the OP - or anyone with similar access. Can the X220 be configured without a touchpad? I'm curious, that's how I prefer my Thinkpads, and while I know it's inevitable, I'll be a little bit sad when the option to go without the touchpad is truly gone for good.

    I don't see that option, unfortunately. Don't know if that will be available when Lenovo has it on their public website.

    btw, if I choose "Mini SSD Capable", I won't be able to select hard drive. Are they going to ship me a machine without HD? :confused:

    The X220 buttonless touchpad is not an option.

    Off the top of my head, the following are CTO options:

    • CPU
    • OS
    • IPS
    • Camera
    • RAM
    • USB 3.0 (with Core i7)
    • WLAN/WWAN
    • Bluetooth
    • HDD/SDD
    • Fingerprint reader
    • Batteries
    • Ultrabase

    It's been available on those sites for a quite some time already. But those are pre-configured models, and are not in stock anyway.
