I'm about to pull the trigger on an x220 and I'm hoping someone can put my fears to rest about the throttling issues, noisy fans, etc.. I thought it was mainly a problem with the i7 (I'm getting an i5) but I read a few things over at the Lenovo forums that are making me apprehensive. Is this stuff still a major problem or am I reading too many things online from isolated people and thinking this is a problem with a vast number of x220 systems? Thanks for any info and advice!

I would say, go for it. It is true that reading about complaints online magnifies problems that are occurring. I believe that Lenovo is aware of the issue and will also be issuing out a fix for it soon.

Just buy it. The forums aren't full of satisfied owners constantly obsessing over how trouble-free their laptops are.
Mine is Efing awesome, FWIW. -
I'd say it's a darn dangerous buy. Can't stop using it!

I gotta agree. You should stay away. The machine is so good it is absolutely addictive. You will never want to do anything but be on it.
My poor W520 is suing for divorce saying I have ignored her. -
Like I said to all the other people that have asked this same exact question on this forum (*ahem*), I love my x220. The only problem I have with mine is supposedly getting fixed in a BIOS update in July. Other than that, it's the best laptop I've ever owned or used (like work-provided).

Do it.
No regrets -
Make sure you've got the IPS "Premium" display upgrade, then you're good to go!

I would say get it.. I have read a lot of people that love their laptops, whenever a new model comes out, all the naysayers hit the forums in full force....
We are trying to get our x201 (totaled due to damage, with accidental coverage) replaced with an x220, and hopefully we will be able to get an IPS screen.... -
The X220 isn't safe. It will run off with your girlfriend, and max out your credit card playing baccarat in Monte Carlo. It will make prank calls in your name to the Russian Mafia, cursing out their mothers. It will surf NSFW web sites without your knowledge and get you fired. And, it will tell you to play in traffic and cross the street without looking both ways.
Don't buy it. It's a Communist plot.

Haha some funny stuff there =) Thanks guys, I think I will go ahead and order one quite soon unless something major changes in the next 3-4 days. I appreciate all the replies!

Yeah no worries. Sure there are things that might not be absolutely perfect or could of been done better, such is true on just about ANY laptop you could possibly come across. These things arent giant turds like they seem like they could be if you look too much into the boards and all on the internet. They are great little systems overall. Just not 100% perfect in every little way, same as any other laptop.

Thanks for all the replies guys, I finally broke down and ordered an X220 earlier this evening! Here's hoping its a good one =)
