I have been dealing with this problem for a long time now:
http://forum.notebookreview.com/len...roblem-x220-please-help.html?amp;goto=newpost
After lots of messing around with the laptop, I have discovered that the keyboard has nothing to do with it. Somehow, moving the laptop or even touching it triggers the power button. I can literally touch or push the laptop to turn it on, and a 2nd touch will turn it off. I have even gotten into windows and changed the power option for the system to sleep when the power button is pressed. After this option is changed, the system will go to sleep when touched or pushed instead of shutting down.
This entire thing happens without a keyboard even plugged in. Essentially the system is registering power button presses without a power button even present. Using the ACPI listen command in linux, I have confirmed that the system is indeed getting power button signals and isn't randomly turning off.
Anyone have any idea of what the h*ll could be wrong? This is the strangest laptop issue I've seen. The laptop seems to run just fine if I turn it on and just leave it there without touching it. But the slightest touch will trigger the power button...
