ok...i thought i was the proud owner of a nice x220...
I packed my laptop and went to meet some friends. While I was waiting for them, I decided to check it and saw that it only had 5% battery left remaining. I was wondering if it stayed on or something while I packed it. But I distinctly remember seeing the lenovo splash screen while booting so it was a cold boot. Anyway, I couldn't do any work while I was waiting for my friends. So when I get home, I plug it in and nothing. The green indicator light that shows it's charging isn't on and the battery is still at 5%. I check the Power Manager tool and it says the battery status is discharging. I only had like a couple minutes left before the notebook completely shut off and now I cannot turn it back on. I called Lenovo support in the US (which is where I bought it) and they say they cannot open a support case if I'm in Korea. And Korea's support is closed for the weekend...

Anyone else experience anything like this?

take the battery off, and press the on/off button ten times in 30 secs interval.

yeah, tried pressing the power button once in 30 second intervals for 6 minutes and nothing...

around the 3rd or 4th try, there was a quick whir? as if the computer was booting, but that lasted a fraction of a second and died. No lights came on. And nothing else during the remaining attempts...

    thanks for the reply though

I'd say it's time to call support.

I have to wonder if the PSU has a problem. Are you sure that it is getting power? Try a different mains socket and AC plug adaptor (if you are using one). It doesn't help that Lenovo saved 5 cents on the PSU cost by leaving off an LED that shows it is working. However, with most notebooks one can still boot into the BIOS as long as the battery has some charge. I don't know if Lenovo have blocked that from happening.

Since I don't have a different power brick, I can't say for sure. I triple checked the connections on the power brick to make sure if that was it. I had the mode set to power source optimized which should have turned off the power automatically once the battery got below the threshold which I find funny that it didn't do that. As for the booting into the bios, the battery has absolutely no charge so I cannot tell.
