I take it that it is possible to simultaneously have an SSD and HDD installed in the X220 machine. Right?

So, on the Lenovo store website, when you're given the option to add a 128GB SSD for $280 what exactly does this mean? Is this replacing the original HDD? Or is this in addition to the HDD?

If it is supposed to be replacing the original HDD, how come there's no option for SSD + HDD?

To have a SSD + HDD setup you'll need to get a mSATA drive, which slots into the miniPCI slot. It will preclude you from having WWAN if you care. If you order the 128GB SSD it will replace the HDD. Lenovo isn't offering any mSATA drives right now. The Intel mSATA is probably the best one, but they are hard to find.
