They notice the haze on the screen due to the multitouch layer and say the display is not that bright....

I really would like to know how it looks like exactly. Actually it's not yet possible to compare the Multitouch with the Gorilla Glass screen but we should find comparisons between Multitouch and regular X220.

I guess that in terms of picture quality we'd have:
    X220 regular screen < Tablet IPS + Multitouch < X220 IPS

The question is how does the Tablet Multitouch screen compare to the X220 non-IPS screen?? Is it just a tad better or still A LOT better....or even worse????

Too bad Lenovo Thinkpad are not available in stores to compare...

I wonder if the tablet version has the backlight bleed that is so prominent in the X220 IPS version. I'm willing to say it doesn't

Um... is the reviewer familiar with Windows? Or Lenovo's settings?

That brand new price almost made my heart stop >__<

I think I'll wait a few years for those x220t prices to drop..

Maybe since the reviewer mentioned that the screen doesn't auto-rotate even though there should be an option to enable it in the tablet PC settings. I know my x200 tablet has it, so the x220 SHOULD have it, since it's based on the active protection system. I don't have one, so I may be wrong.

The screen will rotate if you put it in tablet mode, see this 'unboxing' video. Doesn't seem to rotate if you move it while in tablet mode though..

From the review: "The X220 Tablet did not match the battery performance NBR found on the X220 notebook" and "The discrepancy is most likely due to the Tablet’s touchscreen, as past reviews have discovered touchscreen devices typically consume more power than their notebook counterparts"

Is it possible to turn off or disable the touchscreen when you're not using it to save battery life?

I don't know, but common sense tells me that touchscreens should have an option to go to their own sleep mode of some sort. So that there's no need to turn off. If not used for more than say, 5-10 minutes.

Not on the 201T. And also, while the battery lists the number of cells the reviewer might like to check out the watt-hour indication of the respective 6-cell battery. The tablet's may well be lower.

If you tilt the tablet, or flip it around, the screen doesn't adjust like his iPad, hence the complaint.

Starting price $1859.00 right now if that what you are talking about. They must be kidding, but if they are not, bye bye x220t for me :D.

At least half a dozen places are still listing 4296-2WU for 12~1300, which is close to the reviewed model. (BT+6205 instead of 6250 wimax, faster 7200rpm drive, otherwise the same)

3 hours difference is pretty strange IMO, wonder what the real reason is:

    6 cell x220 0A36282 5.6Ah/63Wh
Lenovo Support - ThinkPad Battery 29 (4 cell) ThinkPad Battery 29+ (6 cell), ThinkPad Battery 29++ (9 cell) - Overview

    6 cell x220T 0A36286 6.0Ah/66.6Wh
Lenovo Support - ThinkPad Battery 52 (3 cell), ThinkPad Battery 52+ (6 cell) - Overview

Assuming they are comparing to NBR's review, it doesn't appear they mixed up results with the 9-cell on x220. (otherwise its an easy mistake to make, since both stick out in a similar fashion)

if there is any truth to this huge difference in battery life (i still don't see how), I'm close to order a slice battery on top of the 6-cell one I'm getting anyways.... even though I find it is a huge design flaw that it won't fit and charge on the docking station with the slice on!

About the screen options though, maybe you guys have some thought on this - to quote myself:

Seriously guys, the images from the review make this multitouch-screen look like total crap. This haze is unbearable, were those images taken outside with a bright sky? If this is any indication, I'll definitely stick to the plan of getting the gorillaglas option! I'm not going to be outside THAT much, but sitting on a train at some window, I need to be able to work this thing... I mean, look at this?!

While it's not that easy to take accurate photo of a screen, I do agree with you - it looks pretty bad, or rather - like a TN screen. :-/ The very small part (shadow) under the stylus looks fine tho. :D

I don't know that you can use these photos to accurately judge the screen quality. They were obviously done under strong, diffuse studio lighting and intended to highlight the tablet from a design standpoint. Look at the body -- have you ever seen a Thinkpad that light grey in color? That's lighting and photo contrast, not a reflection of the actual color of the tablet, so I'd be very wary of snap judgements on the screen.

What was the x200 multitouch like? Grainy also? I'd imagine they be similar.

Which is more scratchproof InfinityGlass or Gorilla Glass?

That's what you call a crappy review. Seriously, I can take much better pictures using my sony c905a phone. The review itself wasn't even close to professional.

    Edit:
I think crappy review is too harsh. Okay, the reviewer did a good job on reviewing. It's the photographer's fault for taking bad photos. Seriously, isn't notebookreview.com one of the biggest review site? I think they could do better.

Yes I definitely think this review doesn't provide a clear picture (no joke) of the screen quality! I have not yet seen one X220 Tablet but just look at trusted review: Lenovo ThinkPad X220 Tablet (X220T) Laptop review - Trusted Reviews

These images definitely look much better...though it's the same version. There is a bit of confusion in that review since they say the Multitouch version comes with gorilla glass. But they actually tested the mutltitouch feature so it is the multitouch version unless their pre-production unit was multitouch + gorilla glass but I think that is not possible. Nothing like a haziness on these pics, they just look wonderful! It is also what they say about the overall screen quality in their review. Of course the gorilla glass might be even better though.

I wouldn't trust "Trusted Reviews" either. Some of the laptop images they have on their "review" also appear on MANY other websites. Also, there's always one the same background - why not put it next to some other laptop to show the comparison?

Well, it is always easier to be in the peanut gallery than up on the stage :p I know Jamison, he's a good guy and if you have questions for him or want further information the X220T I'd suggest asking him over on the TabletPCReview.com forum.

As far as taking pictures of the screen, it is tough to do, but I think it would help having a side by side picture with another laptop. Actually, putting it side by side with an iPad and its IPS screen many of us have seen is probably the best comparison I can think of to help show things.
