    Hi,

I often use my X220t in tablet-only mode. E.g., I remove the computer from the dock (in tablet mode!), switch it off via the power button on the screen and put it into my bag.

Often I realize short time after, that the laptop turned on again. This is not reproducible. I do NOT accidentally hit the power button!

When I wait some time I realize that the laptop turns on again right after going to standby.

Either I carry the laptop turned on accidentally or I always wait 20 seconds to make sure that it's really off. Both is unusable.

Anyone got similar issues? How to resolve?

    Thanks,
    div

Does it only happen with the dock? I bet it's something to do with the dock. I had tons of random issues from high power consumption to the OSD not working undocking my vanilla x220 to the point that I was doing full restart cycles whenever I took it off. I could never figure out how to fix it; I think it was way better when they had the dedicated "undock" button on the older Mini Dock 2 and prior series.

EDIT: I just noticed you're in Stanford, CA. Are you a student?

As far as I remember, yes. I tried it a few times now but it never happened. I will keep an eye on it.

Bad news :( I thought only the Dell and the fujitsu docking stations are crap. But it seems that nobody is able to come up with working docking solutions. On my Fujitsu Stylistic dock I had "loose connections" which got worse over time. With two different docking stations and the tablet pc itself replaced two times. This was a systematic error! No infos on internet and Fujitsu support had no ideas. Also on my dell, it often hanged while booting when docked.

And for Lenovo? I also have exactly the same problem as you describe with the OSD! Many people complain but no solution. I don't understand that. Why do these wide and long known bugs not get fixed?

For the OSD issue, it seems to help to close the lid and open again. Really silly.

What is the most "stable" way to quickly remove and carry the laptop from the docking station? (that's important for me...)

1: Standby button - remove from dock
2: Press the undock button, standby button, remove from dock
    3. Press the undock button, remove from dock, standby button?

What is the power consumption issue? Increased power consumption on the dock (which would be acceptable) or also after undocking (which would be very bad)? How can I check this?

And, yes, I already realized that you're also in Stanford, I guess student (I am ...). Nice to meet you!

For me, going into standby with the lid closed before undocking seemed to minimize most of the issues, but it wasn't a guarantee, hence what I said about doing reboot cycles. There is no undock button on the Mini Dock 3; I don't know about the equivalent Ultrabase.

I usually measure power consumption with Windows' built-in performance monitor. There is a counter for battery discharge rate. Power Manager has a watt counter in basic mode, but its precise to no decimal points, and I think it rounds up (ie 5.1 = 5.9 = 6).
