The X220 tablet has poorer battery life then it's notebook counterpart. According to a review by tabletreview the reason being the touchscreen input:

"The discrepancy is most likely due to the Tablet’s touchscreen, as past reviews have discovered touchscreen devices typically consume more power than their notebook counterparts"

Is it possible to turn off the touchscreen capability (leaving the screen on off course) to save battery life?

Yes, there is a way. IIRC, go to: Control Panel -> Mobile PC -> Pen and Input Devices -> Touch.

Or something like that... There should be a checkbox.

Does this really power off the touch layer or simply unload the driver? It'll be great if someone with a tablet could make a little battery life test (real or with a bettery meter) with this checkbox enabled or disabled.
