    Hi,

I am a new X230-owner. Can't say that I am satisfied for now, but it definitely hasn't won me over by my first impression.
I'd like to use this opportunity to thank this nice community for the experiences the users shared. When I was googling around before buying my X230 I found many useful information on this site. Keep up the good work!

Now to my problem. I have the feeling that the touchpad and its buttons are unprecise and insensitive. I had to set the Sensivity to the maximum in order to work with the touchpad somehow (please don't tell me I should use the Trackpoint. I am used to the touchpad...)
But the buttons (under the touchpad) are worse. sometimes I have to strongly push the button to get a reaction. Besides, even when I clearly click the right button, it sporadically causes a left click. I mean, I can't expect the buttons to work sporadically. When I use the buttons I want to be sure that something happens when i click the button and not hoping for something to happen.

Do you experience the same issues? I will try to test some other X230s in the store in the next days and check if it's only my machine or if it's a general issue.

    Thanks.

There's no getting around it, the touch pads on the X2x0 aren't very good. I'm not telling you to use the stick, but it's a much better solution for the X230 if you're willing to take the time to get to know it. Some people take to it like a fish to water, but others need time.

Yes, I've used the X230 for a little while and I used the trackpoint a lot more than the trackpad. Since its a small laptop with a lower screen resolution, I think using the trackpoint is great. Try it out if you can.

I use both the trackpoint and the pad, but I disabled the click buttons on the pad, and I use the trackpoint buttons when using the touchpad. It's not all that convenient, but the click buttons just aren't that good. It took about a week to get used to this, but I don't even notice any longer.

    Thanks for your replies.

I tested the touchpad + buttons under Linux with a Live-CD. It seems to work more precisely and is more sensitive than under the default Windows 7 configuration which lets me assume that this is a software issue.
Though it's working under Linux, another problem has come up...
