The ThinkPad X230 should at some point get listed on Lenovo.com for purchase today, they're also going to be running a 15% off coupon THINK15X for today (June 5th 2012) only. That should bring the price of the Core i5-3210M Ivy Bridge model down to $850. There will also be a Core i3 Sandy Bridge config and that should be $806 after coupon. Standard pricing is $949 for Sandy Bridge starting and $999 for Ivy Bridge starting.
Not sure what hour of the day the X230 will show up, that's all the info I have, but figured some would like to know about this deal if you're trying to decide between X220 and X230 and price is a consideration.

-
Thanks for the heads up! It's currently on sale....
They want $450 for a 8GB stick of RAM. LOL -
it is? I dont see it on the USA or Canada site yet
-
Hmm. I can get it by logging into my Barnes and Noble account but I can't see it if I'm not using it. Maybe they will update it for everyone soon?
-
What is the pricing through the BN site?
-
We can give that information out, right? It's not EPP/CPP/SPP information, right?
-
Yep, in my book at least, discussion of the B&N discount is perfectly fine
-
Base i3 is $710 and the base i5 is $750 through Barnes and Noble.
-
Links? The Lenovo website is still a mess
-
Just google Barnes & Noble Lenovo. You'll find it.
-
I'm not liking the pricing, but I'm probably looking for overaggressive discounts for a product that was just released today. I'll hold off a bit. My x220 Tablet is serving me well.
-
I can't just link since you need an account. You will have to create Barnes and Noble account and then log into that. (Assuming you're a teacher, student, etc.)
Barnes and Noble Gold -
You just taught him how to get the teacher/student discount. You are his teacher, and he is your student. Now it's legit.
-
The discounted pricing is about the same as or a bit less than that of the X220 at release, so I don't see much to dislike. But yeah, if you currently own an X220, I don't see a compelling reason for you to upgrade.
-
Thanks for the link, luckily I'm a student, but I just created an account and it didn't check whether I'm a student or not, strange.
Edit: Also strange, I thought there are 3 battery option 3, 6, & 9 cell and an external slice battery. But there seems to be only two choices 3 & 6 and no external battery options, anybody have any info about this? -
Should I pull the trigger, or wait for the ton of laptops/ultras that Im sure will come from Computex?

Seems prices are in a major flux for now. It jumped roughly a hundred from when I attempted to order. Guess we just have to see where they stick.

$1075.50 + tax w/ B&N Gold discount
note that choosing msoffice actually lowers the price by $50 for some reason.
looks like i'm going to have to find somewhere to have this shipped in the US for me.
*fyi, min spec (i3, tn screen, no bt/fprint/webcam, 4cell batt) = 674.25 + tax w/ B&N Gold discount. -
buying ram and ssd/hdd has always been more expensive from manufacturer than from aftermarket. For most consumers, giving up having that covered by lenovo warranty is usually worth the cost savings.
as my previous post showed, the pricing with max discount is pretty awesome. Add ~$150 for a 120gb mSATA ssd and ~$130 for 16gb 1600mhz ram. brings you to ~$1350 for a fully loaded top of the line ultraportable. -
Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Wow X230t is CHEAP, base is 861...
no funds!
-
I am totally getting one now, too bad I can't get a discounted ultra portable case with it
-
It's interesting that Lenovo is offering a 500GB 7200RPM drive on the X230.
-
What do you think about order Core i7? Was there an advantage over core i5?
(I don't need the extra horse power, but for example, the core i7 in x220 will give us usb3.0) -
I'd just get the lowest i5 processor instead of the i7
-
I understand that for normal case it wasn't an exception. However, it wasn an exception case in the x220 to get the core i7, because you can have a better usb port.
My question is that: what else benefit beside power to get the core i7. -
Hitachi released a 7200RPM version of the 500GB drive not too long ago. It's up for sale on Newegg for $70... not bad.

Well, on Thinkpads you can upgrade the RAM and disk easily afterward, so it's not that bad.
-
$200+ lower than the X220T, pretty funny. It is a nice price out of the gate -- through BN at least. You rarely see it below $1K.
-
In fact, X230T is almost the same price as X230 when you add IPS and Ivy Bridge CPU. ಠ_ಠ
-
Thanks, for the savings
