I can't find much feedback on the X230, (not looking for info the X230t).

How's the screen door effect on the X230? I couldn't handle the screen door on the X1C or it's imo low quality display. Hoping the X230 is leaps and bounds better.

Hi, so the X230(t) Owner's Thread has a mix of both X230 and X230t in there, there's not a dedicated thread to each.

To answer your "screen door" effect question. I had the X1 Carbon and actually didn't have that issue at all, so it's dependent upon which screen supplier you get. I've never heard of any reports of such a thing on the X230 anywhere. If you get the Premium IPS panel for $50 extra I can't see how you'd be disappointed, it's a great screen, I use the X220 as my main work machine and it has the same panel as the X230.

The X1C I had, which was the same one Andrew has, exhibited no screen door effect and I thought it was above average for a TN LCD, but no match for the X230. Lenovo may be using multiple suppliers for the screen, which may account variances in screen quality reports. The X230 will have better quality than the tablet version because it doesn't have the touch surface attached to the screen, which effects image quality. The X230 is one of the best screens being offered on any notebook right now.

Does the x230 use the same panels as the x220? I've got the latter with an IPS/premium panel and it has zero screen door effect.

There was a revision in the panel due to some ghosting issues for a small minority, but it's the same screen as far as I know.
