Hello everyone,
I'm just wondering if any other X230 owner are experiencing a clicky sound whenever they press on the left portion of their rest pad (pretty much anywhere left of the touchpad).
I received my X230 Thursday and it's really the only thing bothering me, every time I put my wrists down to type I hear this click.
I tried to unscrew and screw the keyboard and touchpad back together and I think I saw why it happens but can't do much about it. Basically, the plastic of the restpad and the case's plastic are extremly tight together. When the restpad is unscrewed the noise disapear because the restpad is able to sit properly on top of the casing. When I screw them together, the noise starts back, it gets both pieces too tight together.
Maybe I'm just picky but it's annoying when I'm typing and it's quiet and I keep hearing this sound.
Anyone else ?

Just from what you've described, it sounds like it's not snapped together properly.

The clipping was fine although the clips were not. The clip themselves were a tiny bit too small for the holes in which they were supposed to clip in on the very bottom left corner of the laptop. I'm thinking they would be fine on other X230 but the interior of mine doesn't seem to be perfectly fitting together. As I said previously, the plastic of the touchpad is too tight with the case, which makes it bump up when I screw in it.
I figured either I send in a repair request(already waited a month and a half for this laptop so meh...), return it or I try something myself. I added a tiny bit of tape in the 2 "holes" that hold the clips in to make the fitting more tight and it's fine now. No more annoying tapping sound when I put my wrist down.
Feels a little awkward to put tape in a brand new laptop but everything else about this machine is lovely, so I can live with that.
Thanks !
X230 Rest pad click noise.
