Hey all,
I had received my x230 last week and absolutely love it. I was given an x230T to play around with at work and immediately noticed that the keyboard material was similar to that of the previous style keyboards which Lenovo used. Why isn't Lenovo using this material on their x230 or did they change materials for newer purchases?
Thanks!

Commander Wolf can i haz broadwell?
The keyboard should be the same across the entire x30 line. If there are differences in material it's probably due to backlight/no backlight or just usual ODM variation.

The keyboards with backlight have no texture and feel more "slippery" while the keyboards without backlight has the same texture as the old keyboards. Thats also why the keyboard of the T/W series looks a bit weird when it comes to the color (dark and a bit glossy) on the official press-pictures and the one of the L series looks just normal (because the L series is not available with backlight):
There are also maybe some differences because there are three different manufactures (Sunrex, Chicony and LightOn). -
Backlight/No Backlight was my guess. That's kind of annoying for them to do that as the previous texture feels so damn good. I wish they could do both
Thanks for the replies.
