This has been asked a million times, I'm sure, but I can't help but to keep going back to this.
I recently bought a new x230 with a 3 year on-site warranty (something I don't want to lose) that comes with a 256GB SSD.
I was thinking of installing an mSATA drive purely to increase storage and will not be doing any imaging or cloning or messing with the OS. The mSATA drive will be used just for storing my DropBox and SkyDrive files.
How will this affect me in the long run in terms of warranty validity?
I was thinking that if push comes to shove and I need to use the warranty for a repair, I can just open up the machine and take out the mSATA and no one will know that it was there in the first place. Is there a possibility that this won't work?
Any thoughts?
Also this conflicting information is confusing me even more:

Two different lists on Lenovos websites indicate different things... The manual says it is not a CRU and this system service parts list says it is a CRU....
X230 and mSata
