Hi X230t fellows,
I'm just curious a little today about the 2 plastic pieces, which I temporailly call them to be "rubber hinges"(Look the attached capture figure below). One of them is near the "tab" key, and the other one is near the "enter" key. What I just noticed is that the one on the right (near the enter key), feel very solid and tight, but the one on the left (near the tab key) is not, I could wiggle it a little bit and its base seem to be smaller than the one on the right side, which perhaps create the wiggling. I heard about this problem with x220t before in this thread in lenovo community forum:
X220 Tablet -- Pieces falling off and pressure spo... - Lenovo Community
So I'm wondering if this is an improvement?I'm not sure how the rubber hinges of the 220t is like, I dont own it anymore
I'm not so sure if this is the way it is designed. I ask my friend and he said he also have this result, so I guess lenovo does this to all x230t systems. I just don't understand why? They should be rock solid both right? Someone know the reason behind this?![]()
I'm satisfied with the system so far, everything run smoothly and the keyboard feel so nice, the microphone/skype experience still not good though, I probably need to configure the mic a little more, it is definitely better than the x220t one

Yup....I opened 3 X230 tablets for my lab and all three have the one rubbery-feeling wobbling left 'hinge' and the one on the right is very solid.
Pretty disappointed by the build quality overall TBH. The UltraNav keys feel much cheaper and in general it doesn't feel nearly as solid as my X220. -
There has been some discussion of this in the owner thread and over on the lenovo community--in my case, both are solid. Hinges is the wrong word for it, though...a better term would be bezel stops or screen stops (they prevent the screen from moving in a tablet position
X230 rubber hinges, one loose, one tight, reasons?
