I am also in australia and also would like the deals available in the america. But in saying that when i build a system on bother sites there isnt really that much in it, and then its even cheaper in NZ(nz website gives ex gst price). Another thing to note is when importing item over 1000 dollars in nz you willl have to apy gst ontop(NZ limit is 400).........

You don't want to know, what I've paid for my x230t (i5, 8GB RAM, 320GB HD, 128GB mSata SSD, Multitouch, Fingerprint).
I had to pay 1400€ - that's about 1728 $ even with the usual student/university rebate (in Germany there is no other rebate available) .
So....every price you've paid is definitely better then mine :D

Windows 8 Enterprise RTM leaked on your favourite torrent site. Downloading a copy atm, might toss it on X230T if it EVER ARRIVES.

Because of missing drivers it's not that good, that it could be.
Especially Wacom had to release their multitouch driver...that will it make much more cooler because of working gestures etc.

Does anybody know if it's possible to re-map the Thinkvantage button? I have the SimpleTap application installed and changed the file location in the registry key, but it doesn't seem to work.

I just received my X230T last night, and installed W8 RTM on it today; it apparently has BlueTooth drivers integrated into it, and while the tablet button didn't work (the one that changes the view from landscape to portrait when you rotate to a tablet), I was able to download the Windows 7 driver and install it, and it works fine now . . .

Oh, and by the way, I'm booting W8 from .vhd (500GB 7200RPM); it's a pretty simple process, and it provides the ability to multiple-boot several different OS's, such as W7, Server 2008R2, Server 2012, etc., but you have to upgrade to Ultimate or Enterprise in order to do this . . .

I think we need more details before someone can know exactly what's going on... do you have a WWAN (mobile broadband) card installed? It sounds like you have one in there, but you haven't activated it in Windows 8. Did you activate it in Windows 7? Do you have one? Do you have a carrier?

@ whoever wanted to play Quake 3 on his X230(t), I've been playing Quake Live for the last few days on my $330 Toshiba from last year (I'm still a n00b, though) - 3.6 processor WEI and 4.1 and 5.6 Graphics and Gaming Graphics accordingly - and I've had close to no lag (usually the lag was caused by something else and could be solved with a restart - I normally only restart once a day, and was usually playing this in the evening). So basically, after a restart, I had perfectly smooth gameplay. I don't see a reason why it shouldn't be at 125fps on the X230, but I'm getting my X230T back on Tuesday, so I can test for you then if you want to be sure.

You should have followed this... It tells you how to use your OEM license on any new HDD/SSD you install...

    http://forum.notebookreview.com/len...uide-clean-installing-windows-7-thinkpad.html

It works flawlessly but you need your activated OEM copy first to use it.

    Hi!

Does someone mind posting the screen dimensions (LxW of just the screen w/o bezel) of the x220/x230? I'm looking for a small, durable laptop but I'm worried that a 12.5" screen will be too small, especially since I've been using a 15.4" laptop for the last 4 years. Cheers.

If oem activation still works easy like win7, then I would use that method for win8, even if I buy the genuine cdkey for $15. I hate it when you activate it certain number times, you can no longer do activation through internet. Also when there are hardware changes win7 nags you to reactivate it if you use the normal cdkey activation. With oem activation, you never get that nag screen, so I prefer that even though I have legit cdkeys.

Congrats! You read about the problems, right?

My 2nd one is arriving this Wednesday. Actually, 2 units are incomming. I canceled one because I made a mistake on wifi card, called immediately, and even got the cancelation email but they shipped out both anyways. They said they will pay for return shipping, and I can even open up the box for both of them. I'm gonna check out both machines and just pick one whichever is better. Only difference is the wifi card and price - lenovo vs intel6205. If I get to keep the lenovo wifi machine, I'm going to order intel 6300 from ebay and just connect the 3rd antenna on the wan wire.

I hope at least one of them stands on all 4 legs.

Ok guys I have a question regarding the crucial Msata drive. There seems to become confusion as to weather it can be used in the x230. Many x230 tablet owners are saying they are using it with no problems but I would like to know if it works in the regular non tablet x230. Crucials website says that it is NOT compatible with the x230 non tablet version. Does anyone have this M4 Msata drive in their non-tablet x230 ? Thank you in advance and yes I have looked at the entire thread before posting this question and there seems to be some confusion since this is a thread for Both tablet and non tablet versions. Crucials website says it is only compatible in the tablet version.

No reason why it would not work. I mean it even works fine in a X220 laptop (wife has intel 310 80GB msata). As long as you didn't occupy the mini pcie slot with WAN card, there will be no problem using it in a X230/X230T. I had it in my X230T.

Some people having problem were the people that bought a pcie ssd and not msata ssd. They look alike but differs how they work. Any msata will work.

Read through the entire spectrum of resources! JBA did a review and it looked like his was ok. There was another review posted with no manufacture issues. Hoping those were part of a bad batch, which mine obviously won't be part of LOOOOL. Hope both of ours can stand on all 4 legs )).

Do they specificly list it somewhere as NOT compatible, or is it just not in their "compatible list" and you are assuming it is not compatible?

It is specifically listed as not compatible. Once you go to their page telling you about the m4 Msata drive, you input the make and model of your laptop on the left hand side. Then it tells you that the drive is not compatible with the laptop. It only says its not compatible when I chose the x230. When you chose the x230t, it says it is compatible. I'm surprised no one has seen this in the past?

Oh.. Thats pretty weird. They might have an algorithm to always output "not compatible" if it is not in their ok list.
Their list is just probably not updated. If you are really doubtful just try calling them. I would just go ahead and order it if I were you.

That's the problem. Once you set up the WWAN, the problem should go away. If not, you can always post here again, then it's probably a driver problem.

You need to right-click the Power Manager battery icon in the taskbar and select Turn off Screen, which is the first open in the menu.

Sending my X230T back to Lenovo when it arrives and will purchase another brand elsewhere.

It's been in the country for over six days and was meant to be delivered today. Lenovo informed me that their carrier didnt sign off on the delivery so it wont be delivered until tomorrow when it's 9AM now. Completely UNACCEPTABLE and if they cannot get their act together after I forked out nearly 2 grand then they will not have me as a customer.

Good plan, when you get it and send it back, then you can order an HP or Dell and wait another 4 weeks, or better, go to Best Buy and get yourself a piece of crap Toshiba or HP floor model. That will show Lenovo!

Really? That's interesting. I'm using the latest Power Manager, so software wise we should have the same program. I found it after right-clicking Power Manager -> Switch To: Advanced Mode -> Options -> "When I press Fn + F3", and clicked "Power Off Display". There is the appropriate Fn+F3 icon on the new keyboards as well, so it should work.

If you really can't get it to work in Power Manager, you could create your own shortcut as described here.

I'm looking to order one of these over the next month. A few questions that I've not seen addressed throughout this thread.

    1. Is the i7 required to use 16GB of 12800 ram?
    2. Is there a known working Mobile broadband chipset to use instead of the 125 dollar GOBI card? Got a Sierra wireless 8790 (I think) for my S10-3T and it didn't work.... so its just sitting around my house.
    3. For those that have invested in the EGPU/Vidock stuff, do you think it extends the life of your 2#0 Tablet significantly?
    4. Finally, I own a Lenovo S10-3T which I LOVE for school work and reading pdfs and what not, the touch screen being the best feature here. Does the X230T screen at least perform like the S10-3T as far as touch performance goes? I just like scrolling through documents and windows 7 with the touch as its a very efficient and time cutting method of navigating.
JesseBAnderson was my reason for buying the S10-3T and now that he owns the x230T I feel like I can't go wrong here. If you're out there let me know how the touch compares to the S10-3T!

Thanks all, look forward to getting my new X230T and contributing to these forums.

just got mine in today! aboely love the solid build of it. i actually love the texture even though it looks so bland. screen seems to be okay, no dead pixels thank God. but one thing is that i absolutely HATE the trackpad. omg that thing is horrendous. i guess i have to get used to the trackpoint. i might return it back for that sole reason. not sure though, gonna use it a little more hopefully i get used to it

EDIT: just remembered, maybe i have to update a driver?

edit: both heatsink has copper. The new one is just hidden under the silver Toshiba sticker. But I don't know why the new one only has 3 wires instead of 4.
