Hello everyone, I've been following this thread with interest - thanks for everyone who's contributed.

I've just bought a used x230 where the previous owner must have wiped the hdd & clean installed w7 enterprise. I have the COA for w7pro on the base, so I wanted to:

    1. swap the hdd for a 256gb msata ssd. (I may not use the hdd at all if it'll save me battery. I use windows server for client backups)
    2. restore to the Lenovo factory w7 install - I.e. for best battery life & all thinkvantage tools etc.

Firstly is it possible to restore the factory image to a different drive, with full Lenovo tools support? And secondly, any idea what would be the best way of doing that? e.g. the unit is still under onsite warranty, so could I use that?

Normal SSDs are said to improve environment mapping/texture loading during game play in games like Skyrim. Does Msata do the same too?

The mSATA performs like a normal SSD. I don't see why it would be any different.
