Hi all,
I've had my X230T for just over a month and am loving it, except for one aspect. I ordered a Photodon Screen Protector, because I was worried about scratching my screen, especially with the pen (and the hard eraser back). I've traditionally had a lot of scratches on all my touch screen devices so I wanted to protect my investment this time.
The protector goes fantastic with the pen input. However, there is a marked (30-50%) drop in touch sensitivity, that makes Windows 8 very very frustrating. I have to press hard, and use my thumb, and typing on the virtual keyboard is a nightmare.
I was wondering if anyone could recommend any good screen protector's that work well with the Pen, whilst maintaining high levels of touch sensitivity? I notice all the iPad / Android / iPhone protector's don't seem to affect touch sensitivity at all. I've heard the name Exim thrown around a little bit? Does anyone even have experiences of not using a screen protector and not getting any scratches? Could anyone comment?
Thanks

Oh great, I just ordered this:
Amazon.com: Lenovo - 12.5" ThinkPad X220T Tablet (286.5 x 168mm)- HD Anti Glare Film - MXH Photodon Screen Protector: Computers & Accessories
Arrives tomorrow. If hampers the touch (which nobody says it does) that's not gonna be good.
Lol, just saw your scathing review on Amazon. -
16:9 Clear LCD Screen Protector Shield Cover Guard For 13.1 Widescreen LCD | eBay
$3.29 free shipping, two 13.1 protectors. I think this blow away in price and quality. -
Will it fit a 12.5" screen without trimming?

Yes. The Photodon you linked looks like it's also oversized. I initially bought an Exim 12.5" screen protector which was for both X230 and X230T, but it was too perfect fit which is not good for the tablet.
If you search on ebay, you'll notice that 13.1" 16:9 ratio ones (Sony vaio z) measures almost perfectly for our X230T.
Here's some pics of mine.

Can you elaborate on what you mean by a perfect fit not being good?

Using a pen, if the accuracy is off by couple mm, your pen's tip will fall off the screen protector's edge. You dont want that because you have to raise the pen again to get it on the screen. Also when using your fingers for touch, if the screen protector ends perfectly where the edge of the viewable screen ends, then you will feel the sharp end of the screen protector when touching something on the edge of the screen. Swipe motion from the edge to inwards as in Win8 might be not comfortable. So thats why you want a oversized screen protector, so you have continuity and eveness on the edges of the screen

What's your touch sensitivity like?
-
It's pretty usable for me. The only time I have to put more effort in touch input is when I drag something across the screen. But that's probably the same even if there wasn't any screen protector. For poking something, it works well and I never miss (not talking about the accuracy here. At least it clicks something - meaning it registers the touch).
I never tried Photodon as I think it is overpriced. I'm a guy that puts $1 screen protector on my Galaxy Note. I tried 3M Vikuiti on a X220T last year just because I had some laying around. I know for sure that 3M Vikuiti completely blocked touch interface. -
Hello hp79, I ordered a x230t and I want to get a screen protector. Could you give me the dimensions in cm or inches of the screen + the black area around (all the shinny part) please? Like that i'll a screen protector that cover all the shinny area like you recommended
