From that link it says IPS display which should be 300 nitts brightness. That means you should be good to go outdoors. Don't wait to long, Lenovo does not ship that any longer in the states and in many peoples view, the newer ULV models are more of a ultrabook then they are a work station. That's a great deal being you can still buy it new. They discontinued the T version and only make the X240 now which is more expensive and less powerful in many ways. That is the last generation using a full mobile processor and retains full port support.

How long is the default warranty?

I thought it is always three years, but it says one year depot and I need to upgrade to warranty to get the three year?

Lenovo Thinkpad outlet machines come with a 1-year warranty, and you will not be able to extend the warranty through the normal method and pricing. In the past, Lenovo did not allow warranty extensions on Outlet machines, but the footnote on this page seems to suggest that it may now be possible... though I would bet it's more expensive.

    Will replacing SSD void warranty?

I currently have a crucial 240gb SSD in my X200T and would like to install that onto the X230T when it arrives.

    No.

Stuff like SSD, RAM, keyboard are all deemed user-replaceable with no effect on the warranty.

A laptop that wobbles on three feet when battery is taken out. This is a Tablet, I need to use it to write things on it, so it needs to be completely flat, when the battery is in, it's at an angle, when it's taken out, it wobbles.

The battery is light and fat and ugly at the same time.

The battery switch in now located on the laptop instead of the battery, which means I need two hands to take the battery out.

The finger scanner no longer have metal bit in it.

All the lights have been removed except for wifi and harddisk

Tablet shortcut menu button is gone??! How am I going to change brightness in tablet mode?

Trackpad buttons are flattened out, reducing the tactile feeling.

Only spin one way into tablet mode.

    Latch is missing.

It seems that I can cut out the piece of plastic on the battery, and add a rubber feet the corner without rubber feet to make it not wobble. As anyone done this before?

Can't believe that a premium brand has become this bad that consumer have to fix wobbling issue.

This is not a lemon, it's a design issue.

Well, they don't even make the T version anymore. First off, the X240 has the finger scanner on right side of KB, making the keyboard smaller and cramped. The X240 does not even have hard drive light anymore. X240 has non user replaceable internal battery as well as external battery. On my X230 (non tablet version) I have both 6 and 9 cell and don't have any wobble. At least with yours, you still have function dedicated function keys, You now need to use FN key for access. Yes they went to chicklet keys style but at least they have full KB and not the cramped one they use now. This is the last one with full mobile processor, the new one uses ULV. The new one does not have dedictated vol/mic keys gone. New one took out hard buttons for mouse and uses crappy virtual buttons. So yes, the X230T may have a slightly worse KB but most feel you can still type very well on it. You can buy an older 220 but its going back to second gen Intel with sandy Bridge and Intel graphics 3000 which is much worse then ivy's 4000. So overall, I feel the 230 or 230T was the best overall. The newer models you would definitely not like with those complaints.

One question, why do you take battery out? Don't you have to have it powered to wall without battery installed? On my X230 there is only the external battery (no internal) which is a good thing IMO. I don't think the device was made to be used without the battery installed. Yes the battery is a bit ugly but its functional. This is the last thinkpad that concentrates function over style. If you want style, get a X240 with less ports, ULV, crappy trackpad, sealed battery, far worse KB. These machines were never about style. That's why so many are upset with the newer designs that concentrate on style over function. You have the last real ThinkPad

One thing you can do is get a 4 cell battery which won't lift the back up and it should be flat. Battery life will suffer though. I personally like the 9 cell on my X230. But that one is the non tablet version.

I don't want to buy a 4-cell battery just to make it more staple, I'll just get a $2 rubber feet and cut out the plastic from the 6-cell battery I got. To be honest, that fat ugly battery has pretty decent battery life considering how light it is.

I kind of regret not getting the Thinkpad Yoga though.

no idea, sometimes when I turn tablet back to laptop mode, trackpad stops working. I'll install UltraNav to see if it will make any difference.

And also, the middle tablet button does not work any more and I can't get table menu shortcut.

If I return this laptop back to lenovo, will I have to pay stocking fee?
