The x31 has the Pentium M while the x30 has the PIII. Pentium Ms have better battery life. I know the x31 goes about 4.5-5 hours. It will depend on other things like screen brightness, whether WiFi is on, etc.

    Zazonz,

Ok the X31 goes 4 1/2 to 5 hours- is that in fairly general use- that is, some web-surfing, some basic programs with the screen as bright as it can go?

Last do you know how long- using the same basic parameters, how long a X40 with the 8 cell battery goes?

    Thanks, JL

Over five, but again will depend on the settings.
