    Hi all,

I can order a new X300 for a really good price via the university. I've been dreaming of this X300 for quite some time now. I have a T400, and I'm pleased, but I cannot let this deal down :).

But, before I order, I'm wondering... The X300 is not produced anymore for quite some time now right? So these laptops, how great is the change that they are refurbished ones instead of really new?

The X301 is the new model and before that was the X300. The X300 isn't that old, but it is all subjective. You know technology, anything made yesterday is "old". You said that the laptop is available through the university. Do you know who did the refurbishing of the laptop you are looking at?(i.e Did Lenovo do the refurbishing?).

I have heard that refurbished laptops from Lenovo are pretty good, but I don't have any personal experience. I was considering getting a refurbished one from their Outlet. The refurbished laptops from the Outlet come with a 1 year standard warranty. How about the one you are looking at from the University, does it come with any warranty?

Here is a refurbished X301 from the outlet. Don't know how much you are ready to spend.

Yes it's a good thing technology goes so fast. 'Old' technology gets cheaper faster :).

The x300 comes with a 3 years warranty which I can extend to on site. So that may be an indication it's new.

Well all the advise I can give you is make sure you have a good warranty, especially since you are using it for College. There are a lot more possibilities of drops and spills and not just from you but other people you are "forced" to associate with ;)

I carry an X301 around campus everyday and love it; the X300-series are good computers. :D
