I am in the hunt for a laptop as I have been for quite some time. I am being patient as I don't really need it. As I read about the new Thinkpads I wonder, will Lenovo refresh the X300 with a new processor, new GM45 chipset with DDR3, X4500, and new wifi?

I would really like to see one of these processors offered in the X300:

    SL9400 (1.86Ghz / 1066Mhz FSB, 6MB L2 cache / 45nm / 17W TDP)
    SU9400 (1.40Ghz / 800Mhz FSB / 3MB L2 / 45nm / 10W TDP)
    U3300 ( 1.20Ghz / 800Mhz FSB / 3MB L2 / 45nm / 5.5W TDP)

The 1.2Ghz processors seems to be the weak link in the X300, with Montevina Lenovo could increase performance and decrease power consumption (with the SU9400 or the U3300).

Probably, not sure on the specifics though. I doubt they would nto update such a high-end product.

We have a consensus on this. Several of us are waiting on news or news of news on an X300 update, with the processor in mind.

I would also like to see them remove the wireless on/off switch from the back and move it somewhere else or make it an Fn button.

It's no longer also a Fn+F5? I agree the placement is funny on this but I wonder if they 'had' to do it that way due to the narrow depth of the system - the deeper back end of the system is taken up with optical drive and vent.

I'm glad they at least put the headphone jack on the side. As silly as that is, it's one of the reasons I don't want an X200 instead.
