    Hi,

I just ordered an X300 here in the UK - it should arrive tomorrow. :) It's supposed to come pre-installed with Vista Business x32, but because I have some (free) RAM and can put the x300 up to 4gb I wanted to 'upgrade' the pre-installed x32 vista to x64. Is this possible, and is it hard?

I had a look throughout the forum and all I've found is a guide to a clean install, but all I really wanted to do is change over. Is a clean install the only way to do it?

I know a clean install is probably the best way...but quickest will do me fine  (and I like some of the thinkvantage stuff).

    Cheers!

To go from x32 to x64 you have to install x64 from scratch, wiping out the x32 installation.

It's essentially a completely different OS, reinstall is the only option.
Where you'll get a 64 bit disk now - there's something I wanna know! (Unless you torrent it <_<)

Thanks for all that, makes sense to me. I'll use one of the guides...

As to where to get an x64 disk, yeah it's hard haha I wasn't thinking that far ahead!
