I've done a clean install of Windows 7 on my X300; everything works great, except my microphone doesn't work. Sound works, and my microphone is recognized under Control Panel -> Sound -> Recording; there's a green checkmark on Microphone. Skype recognizes the microphone, but it doesn't seem to record any sound. The level meters in both the Sound control panel and in Skype don't fluctuate at all. And the Skype test call doesn't record any sound either, nor can anyone hear me.

Has anyone else had similar issues? Does anyone have any ideas on a solution? Any help is much appreciated; thank you!!!

Had the same issue with our ShoreTel softphone. Thought it was maybe a ShoreTel issue but now it seems it's a ThinkPad/Windows7 issue. I have an X301 which is very similar to yours. Hopefully finalized Win7 drivers will address the issue

Unfortunately, I don't have my X300 or an external microphone with me; has anyone tried using an external microphone to see if it's an issue with all microphones or just the internal one?

Greetings, I am having the same issue as well. I was able to test with an external mic and that is working. Tried updating the driver. I can see the mic, it is enabled but it is not picking up any sound.

    Hi Lee,

Do you have an X300/301 or some other ThinkPad? Wondering if this is a ThinkPad issue or Windows 7. Wonder if it affects all ThinkPads or just the X300 series.

What's strange for me is that the microphone works in Skype but not in our ShoreTel softphone client. Could be a ShoreTel issue but the original poster has a similar issue.

Also seeing the problem on my X300 with Windows 7. Can see the mic, but doesn't even pic up any sound in Microsoft's default places to test the microphone.

Edit: Fixed this by downloading the Audio drivers for Windows 7 from Lenovo.
