    Hello there,

I was just wondering, where can you get an X300 bay battery from? I've been the happy owner of an X301 for some while now, and it is THE best laptop I've ever had. However, the only thing that bugs me is the mediocre battery life. My not-so-new 6c (at least its original) still has 32Wh which lasts me about 2-2.5h of web browsing, listening to music and watching videos on YouTube.

Although it is certainly something, it's not quite enough for me to be satisfied. So I was planning on getting the bay battery since I hardly use my DVD drive. (I don't use it all :D) However, when I do an ebay search all I find are ridiculously overpriced 200$ offers.

Since I'm just a poor student this is not an option. So to all of you lucky X300 bay battery owners out there, where did you get yours from and where can I find reasonably priced offers? (30€ range, needs to be original and good condition ~20Wh)

Are you telling us you do those things everyday while being out and about?

Whenever THE BEST LAPTOP sits on a desk, plug it in. Or, you can buy a second battery (not bay battery) and keep it in your bag. :)

(By the way, I wonder why they don't retain the X301, swap in a better screen and put in a new planar with Ivy Bridge U processor and DDR3L memory. That would be awesome.)

Even when browsing the web with low brightness settings I only get close to the 3h mark which is not really that much more than 2,5h. The X301 doesn't really use that much more power when it is stressed slightly in terms of videos and even music using the (very good) internal speakers. The difference between battery life during idle and during stress scenarios is extremely low. Quite amazing if you consider it's an older generation C2D. But then of course, it's 10W and I keep it at 800MHz.

When I'm "out and about" I use my X220 with its 9c which lasts me 12h. I don't really like sitting at desks, when using my X301 I'm always at a different place or room, sometimes even outside. There is a reason why I switched to laptops, I just love the freedom you get. So like you said, I won't really be needing thaaat much battery life, but 4-5h would be very pleasing.

I have thought about getting another 6c, but that would be way less comfortable. :D

Also, in case you are planning on getting an X301, there is an AFFS screen available (only 1280x800 but the MBP wasn't any better either) and the SU9600 can be OC'd to 2,4GHz.
