I see upon reading engadget news that Lenovo announced a price cut for the X300 of at least $160. This is still high for a full feature laptop but not too bad for a semi ultra-portable. They should just keep the going trend and allow for some crazy coupon codes. Just wondering how many are planning to buy once the price is closer to the middle class?

Probably worth waiting for the X200. Here is some new shots as translated by Google.

I'm not in the market for any laptop at the moment, let alone one for that much. I decided after dropping quite a bit of coin on my T42 that about $1,000 was my limit for laptops. Fortunately for myself most of the market has come my way. I really only need the basics. Spending more in my opinion is wasteful. My R60 is serving my needs quite well. It's still in great shape and gets a ton of battery life after I got the nine-cell. The screen's a bit dim, but I can live with it. I thought about picking up a FlexView T60. They're getting fairly inexpensive right now and the screen can't beat, but I really like the 14" form factor and I'm not really doing anything were the FlexView would be advantageous. The $300-400 it would cost me is not worth.

For my next notebook, I'd definitely consider the X200. I got to review the X61s last summer. It was really nice to carry around compared to my relatively heavy R60. I disliked the XGA, but that'll be fixed on the X200 and you can't have it all I guess.

I agree that the X300 is a pricey machine, but, damn, it's nice. I like it. The fact is, though, that for some people that amount really isn't a lot of money, and for those folks who can afford it, the machine will be nice. We should all be so lucky! lol

it is a nice machine. but i must say if i was going to drop $2K+ I would consider the new Envy or a Sony SZ premium Carbon cased machine. Although the screen is actually the best resolution on the Lenovo. (which is rare)

    Quick Comparison

I would have considered X300 if it had any flash reader onboard. They could have sacrified one third of USB bunch for it, I think...
BTW, there is a survey addressing port issues at http://lenovoblogs.com/designmatters/?p=216

for a moment, I considered the X300, but for half the price, I was able to get a speced out T61p...

I think I'll just pick up one of the new Eee PC's to use whenever I need an ultra-portable.

If they didn't force people to buy it with SSD it would be more reasonable.
