    I ordered a X301 with the following configuration:
    • Intel Core 2 Duo SU9400(1.4GHz, 3MB L2, 800MHz FSB)
    • Genuine Windows Vista Business with Windows XP Professional Downgrade
    • 13.3 WXGA+ TFT (1440x900 LED backlight) 3x3 UltraConnect
    • Mobile Intel® Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD
    • 2GB PC3-8500 DDR3 SDRAM 1067MHz SODIMM Memory (1 DIMM)
    • 64GB Solid State Drive
    • Ultrathin DVD Burner
    • Intel WiFi Link 5300 (AGN)
    • ThinkPad X300 Series 6 Cell Li-Ion Battery

    My question is: Do the BIOS support an additional dimm of 2GB (2x2GB) DDR3 memory, and would it support dual channel? For some reason on the lenovo site the biggest option was 3GB...

    yes it will support 4gb of DDR3 Ram (2x2gb). The reason the option for 4GB isn't there is due to the fact you chose a 32bit OS. If you chose a 64bit os the 4GB option will pop up. With regards to supporting dual channel... I'll leave that for someone else to respond lol

    I know this is slightly off the path from asb36's question (sorry) but I wish when configuring ThinkPads you could choose several options, eg. ultrathin burner and the travel bezel, or that the things you didn't choose would show up as "accessory" options later. I assume you can get them specially some other way, but it's an annoyance - if the options are available, offer them!

    I'm waiting for WiMax then biting the bullet on this at last. Hopefully the price recedes a little in that time.

    @asb36
    As AznRacerNSX mentioned, the 4GB option will pop up if you choose Windows Vista Business 64-bit (Keep in mind that with a 32-bit OS you will not see the entire 4GB of RAM). Also, yes, the Montevina chipset supports both symmetric and assymetric dual-channel modes.

    @k3davis

    Try giving them a call, who knows, they might throw in the travel bezel for you - I'm sure it costs pennies for them. You got nothing to lose, it's worth a shot :)

    Thanks for the info!

    Also, from what I've read on the Lenovo website, the ultrathin DVD burner is very fragile... my initial plan was to get a additional 3 cell battery and then swap the DVD burner with the battery whenever I need more battery life and have no need for a optical drive... is this true and how fragile is it?

    One more thing... does the mobo support higher DDR3 bus speeds... like 1600mhz? I plan on making these upgrades in the future so it's good to know now =)

    Is there also a way to expedite your order to have them build/ship is sooner?

    @AznRacerNSX: When did you order your X200? I ordered my X301 on 9/2 and it's est. ship date is 9/23 =(

    I ordered it on August 27 on the phone (after office hours), so maybe it was processed on August 28. They actually expedited my order.. so who knows. I ordered in Canada so unfortunately.. i don't have the "estimate shipping date" like the US has. At the moment I was told they are assembling my machine right now.

    Considering there really are no reviews for this model, unless there's a technical reason to disclaim it I doubt anybody knows the answer to this now.

    After the order, I'd say no. It can be shipped faster (sometimes) if you choose a Topseller model (not a customized configuration) from Lenovo or a third party vendor.

    You may want to chill with the bumpage, btw.
