This is my first Lenovo system as I am a past Dell user who is sick of their poor reliability (3 notebooks and 8 failures over the last 2 years).
I was wondering how consistent Lenovo prices are on the Web => got what I think is a deal yesterday but today the prices are significantly higher..
X301, 4GB SDRAM, 128GB SSD, thinline DVD, Window Business, Intel 5300, ATT 3g, 6 cell battery, Multitouchpad, 3 year depot warranty for $1745. Used the Visa discount link plus a 5% coupon on site. The normal site -- came out at 1907 with the 15% discount. Both had the mother's day sale logo.
Today the same configurations are $2191 and $2383 with the discounts.
Yesterdays prices were even a lot cheaper than even the discount resellers like costcentral (about $300 if you include sales taxes)
Strange -- Base price was lower yesterday and the SSD upgrade was $0 yesterday and today is $200.

Lenovo is rather famous for pricing on the website that changes quite quickly (they are always running some kind of sale). They also have a tendency to have misprints in the pricing that allows for things like $0 upgrades to an SSD.
Therefore, if you are looking to configure a ThinkPad, you should always SAVE A QUOTE to lock in a price. Similarly, if you are able to configure and save an identical quote shortly after you have already ordered your ThinkPad a price match should be possible. -
wow I didn't know you can save a quote for later. Even if they remove an item like a CPU option? Shopping Lenovo.com is like a game..
