Im considering to buy x301 and checked some x301s on ebay as well to

    compare the prices.

While I was searching, I found that some x301s have a different model number which is 2774.

When I configure my system on Lenovo, the model number is 2777.

I wonder if there is any major (or minor) difference btw the two.

    Thank you

There are pre-configured X301 models that are sold thru various resellers (those have the model number 2774 and 2776, at present). The CTO (configure-to-order) models on Lenovo's website have the 2777 model number. The only difference would be in the options selected (or standard on pre-configured units).

Take a look at a few of the NEW X301 models in the Lenovo Outlet, too!

    Here are X301 systems I found- $1887 ($2423 new) & $2041 ($2624 new)

If you are interested in an X300 at all, they have them starting as low as $1064- LINK

    THANK YOU allfiredup!!

Your answer is very helpful. The X301s in the outlet were great.

Just one more question, the x301 Im interested in doesnt have a ultra-thin

dvd-burner(exclusively for x301), so can I purchase the dvd burner separately from Lenovo and install it?

Since I have been looking for the dvd-burner on Lenovo and ebay, but

    the both dont have any.

You can purchase the dvd drive separately but it would be extremely expensive, after the fact. I would recommend looking for an outlet x301 that has the drive if you really want it.

Hmmm...it looks like those outlet prices are higher than they were a couple of days ago. I ordered one NEW through cpp for 2000 which was similar in config to the $2041 mentioned above (just without the dvd drive). I then discovered the outlet and ordered the same thing that I had configured for $1,700 which included the dvd drive. So I figured I just saved around $600 going through the outlet store. But the one I ordered for 1700 was just a touch better speced than that one for 2041. Had the Intel 5300 versus the 5100. I'm still waiting for my confirmation email so I'm hoping the specs pan out as ordered.

As a side note. I called Lenovo to cancel the original order on the new one which they said they would try, but I just received the shipping confirmaiton today for it. So I guess if something happens to the outlet deal I still have my new one :)

How did you get that price? through only ccp or cpp+additional coupon?

As long as I know there's no coupon availabe for x series for now.

if you can wait a little more time, I think the price will go back to $ 1630 with 2776 L9U, it's a top seller model.
the 2774 is not a topseller and a little more expensive ( I thought)
if you buy it directly from lenovo, get the dvd drive and 6 cells.
6 cells is much better than 3 cell , and only add a few weight and a little height. <- you won't notice too much at all.

Are you sure? This may be dependant on location. I was told by Lenovo Aus that it could not be purchased separate.

Definitely, there's $100-200 of differences btw CPP and the outlet in price for

x301. If you can find a x301 with the same spec you want in the outlet, you got lucky.
