    Hey everyone,

just thought I would post on this.
I am in a province in Thailand right now, but I bought my laptop (X301) in Australia.
Last week when I arrived in my current town, I set my laptop down and turned around, only to hear it crash to the floor. The screen broke, causing half of it to display anything and the other half to be either blank, or have some multicoloured dots.

I was sooooo annoyed, seeing myself being without my computer for weeks, and the worst case being that I would have to send it back to Australia to get it fixed.

I bought the Thinkpad protection plan (accidental damage), but was not sure if it was international like the warranty was (I didn't think it was).

Unfortunately, it was a Friday night and the call center was closed until Monday morning. Further annoying me was that there was no authorised repair center where I was. (The closest being about 100km away).

Monday morning finally came though, and I rang the call center. The person I spoke to spoke really good english (that's one point), and then entered me into the system. He said that I should expect a call from a technician within a day or two (another point).

The next day, I received a call from a technician the next province over. Unfortunately he only spoke Thai, but luckily I had about 30 people who spoke fluent Thai and fluent English in the house that day. He spoke with them, and came to pick up the laptop later that day (a third point).

He came, picked up the laptop (from the province 100km away, remember) and took it back. The next night I received a call telling me that the screen was broken and would be replaced, and that it would be back to me on Friday.

Friday came, and the technician made the long drive again, dropped off the laptop fixed, and went on his way. The Thinkpad protection was in effect, and so it was free to me.

I was completely impressed by this service. When I called for a technician to come out in Australia, it took two weeks before he got the part and could come!

I knew that the warranty was valid in Thailand, but wasn't sure about the protection. I had also heard negative reports about international warranty, but really wanted this laptop so secretly hoped I would never have to use it. If Lenovo released a laptop with a multimedia quality screen, there would be no point of looking elsewhere, in my opinion.

    Completely satisfied!

    Summary:
    Friday: Broke lappy
    Monday: called service
Tuesday: service collected my laptop FROM A PROVINCE AWAY
Friday: laptop back in my hands, completely fixed

Glad your x301 was properly fixed for you. I hope your enjoying it (I remember you were trying to decide between an x301 and the x200 variants).
