Hi all,
As a proud owner of thinkpads (previously T41p) and current T61p, I was keen to get a smaller notebook.
The X301 ticked all the boxes ( as it had a DVD drive bay )
I noted the lenovo website in Aus doesn't list the X301 anymore.
I called lenovo Aus sales rep, and the sales guy says it not available anymore. Couldn't say what the reason was ( or wouldn't divulge )
Disappointed, and may need to seek a X201/201s and buy an external USB drive.
Regards
JB

does this mean that lenovo will soon release a X301 update, say X310???

NO they cant discontinue X301
i know they are release an update version hehe -
I just got all desperate and bought an x301 at $1100 on ebay, lenovo can't do this to me by rlsing an update!
But seriously, I wish there'll be an update as well. In that case, I'll sell my old x301 for say $1400 and get the new one. -

X301 is my dream laptop just wish its CPU a little faster
$1100?? hm..ill check it out on ebay ! -
It's too bad to, because I LOVE my X301. To me, it's the "perfect" laptop ultra portable. 13", DVD drive, LED screen, multi-touch, etc.
True while not the fastest computer on the market, it was never meant to be. It was meant to be a travel/on the go computer. All I use my X301 for is vacations, and if I have to be on the road for any bit of time.
I used my X301 for the first time on a plane trip from CT to AZ and man, my T61 felt like a BRICK after carrying around the X301 all week lol. -
I wish I weren't a poor student.
Ebay is full of awesome deals if you are careful. Still I can't believe I paid 1000 CDN for my T61 back then. God damn it. -
My friend bought a X301 for $900.... it was originally listed as $1300 AUD

Thanks for the link i was looking at that too
Since your X301 come with 6 cells..does it stick out on the back? i dont like it when it stick out or stick under (under better but prefer not to. i know im picky hehe ) -
@JBM, I have two external DVD drives just for that reason. They are cheap and easy to replace in case it dies, it's certainly better than having an integrated optical drive die and having to send in the whole laptop just for that repair.
Considering that anything with moving parts is usually the first to fail in a computer, I think the less moving parts the better. -
doesnt X301 have removable optical drive?

X301 not available in Australia anymore
