    Hi all,

As a proud owner of thinkpads (previously T41p) and current T61p, I was keen to get a smaller notebook.
The X301 ticked all the boxes ( as it had a DVD drive bay )

I noted the lenovo website in Aus doesn't list the X301 anymore.
I called lenovo Aus sales rep, and the sales guy says it not available anymore. Couldn't say what the reason was ( or wouldn't divulge )

Disappointed, and may need to seek a X201/201s and buy an external USB drive.

    Regards
    JB

its being discontinued, hopefully to make way for update, but the leaked product road map did not have anything for the X301. I think this could be the end of the X301. Maybe, it didn't sell well enough, and the release of cheaper T400s took the shine off the X300/301.

I just got all desperate and bought an x301 at $1100 on ebay, lenovo can't do this to me by rlsing an update! :D

But seriously, I wish there'll be an update as well. In that case, I'll sell my old x301 for say $1400 and get the new one.

1100 CAD for that slim babe is like the price of a poorly-configured 13' Macbook. :)

I was thinking the same thing. I also asked this very question last year (before I bought my X301). I think that due to the super high price of it, that it more then likely will not be replaced. The T410s will be it's replacement more than likely.
It's too bad to, because I LOVE my X301. To me, it's the "perfect" laptop ultra portable. 13", DVD drive, LED screen, multi-touch, etc.
True while not the fastest computer on the market, it was never meant to be. It was meant to be a travel/on the go computer. All I use my X301 for is vacations, and if I have to be on the road for any bit of time.
I used my X301 for the first time on a plane trip from CT to AZ and man, my T61 felt like a BRICK after carrying around the X301 all week lol.

@JBM, I have two external DVD drives just for that reason. They are cheap and easy to replace in case it dies, it's certainly better than having an integrated optical drive die and having to send in the whole laptop just for that repair.
Considering that anything with moving parts is usually the first to fail in a computer, I think the less moving parts the better.

I believe so. The ultrabay battery would be pointless otherwise.
