I understand the X301 has a rubberized finish on the palmrest. Does this show serious amounts of wear like I imagine it might with use? Does the X300's palmrest have the same dimensions and mounting points?

    Thanks.

My X300 has the rubberized finish on the palmrest, and in the 2.5 years I've been using it daily, it hasn't shown any signs of wear.

the palmrests are dimensionally identical between the X300 and X301 save for the fact that the X300 has a UPEK fingerprint reader and the X301 has an authentec.   the screw mounting points are exactly the same and the palmrests are interchangeable.   the soft touch coatings are also identical.
