This static read-only archive was pulled by NBR forum users between January 20 and January 31, 2022, in an effort to make sure that the valuable technical information that had been posted on the forums is preserved. For current discussions, many NBR forum users moved over to NotebookTalk.net after the shutdown.

    X31/Dock II with Win7

    Just upgraded from XP to Win7 on a X31 with Dock II (+ DVD-ROM drive). If I have the DVD drive inserted in the dock, then Win7 crashes on the startup screen (= freezing during the windows logo animation, no BSOD); without the DVD drive, Win7 starts up fine! No problem with the DVD drive inserted back in XP.

    Anyone else with this issue? (anyone else with such an old thinkpad? :p)

    It's possible that no one with an X31 who knows the answer has been in the forum today so far. I believe this forum has a 24 hour waiting period on bumping your own thread.

    You can also check at TPF's board for older X series. The bump rules there are 3 days...

    i have a x31 with dock, but hardly ever use it now.

    The crowd here tends to be much newer to ThinkPads.
