Let the buyer beware in thinking that a Kingspec SSD is a viable replacement for the horribly slow 1.8" Hitachi X40 hard drive.
I purchased a 32GB Kingspec drive from eBay, with visions of forever banishing the annoying clicks of the 40GB Hitachi. Installation-wise, the new drive fits perfectly into the caddy, and the process is a snap to complete.
For about two months, it was nirvana with a faster drive that was absolutely silent. Then the problems began. Sudden meltdowns that would prevent start-ups, leaving my screen full of error codes, became the norm.
Eventually, i got sick of dealing with the unreliability and switched back -- with a big sigh -- to the Hitachi. While slow and noisy, at least it remains rock solid.

Tsunade_Hime such bacon. wow
Isn't there enough room in the X40 to do a PATA to ZIF conversion and buy a name brand ZIF SSD?
-
I believe there is room for a PATA to ZIF conversation, but the Kingspec is billed as a "no fuss" replacement -- which it is, until the drive chooses not to work.
