    Happy Holidays Everyone!

A while back (April 08) there was a rumor of X400s and X500s. Does anyone know what the status of this is? A thorough search (or so I hope) of the forums yielded nothing as far as an update on this.

    Thanks!

    Andrei

I have heard or seen nothing about it. I was hopeful too. Perhaps we will see them with the next refresh.

What would distinguish them from T400/T500 with an integrated GPU?
Longer battery life due to a low power CPU?
As much I would like to have one as much I doubt they eventually appear.
I also think that the just emerging battery technologies (e.g. Zinc accus) will make the longer battery life for T series anyway (but of course for Xs too).

    PS
    I would love to see X100... ;)

I'm in kind of a different mindset. I would like to see a T300, I like the T series, but since the widescreen take over I feel the 14" is just too big now.

I highly doubt you would see an x400/x500 as they run counter to the x series style (in fact so does the x300 due to the DVD burner).

The next refresh will include x201, x302.

An ultrathin 14 or 15" laptop would be kind of nice, but I doubt you will see it.

Thanks for all the replies, guys.

Yeah, I fear you are all right. I was hoping for something with a bit thinner body, a screen that's centered (hehe I know, I'm one of THOSE people), and a keyboard that doesn't have flex like the Thinkpads of old.

I can only dream, I guess....

Technically the keyboards don't flex anymore, Lenovo reverted back to the T61 style.

I'm soo with you on this. I really want a 13" ThinkPad (perfect size for me) with WXGA+. I'd get an X300 if it weren't ridiculously expensive...

Wow, that's great news! Since when? I must have been living in a cave. Is there a way you can tell via product or serial numbers on the machine's box?

There's a sticky about this on the first page of the Lenovo/IBM forum.

I don't know if you can tell by the serial number, but all of the newer T400/T500/W500 are supposed to ship with the reinforced keyboard from the T61.

If you already have a T400, or if the one you receive has the flexy board you can request a T61 replacement. Full instructions are in this post.
