I have an X41 running WXP which I would like to format as far as possible - without any external storage media.

    How should I procede?

Can I use Rescue & Recovery?

I have made backups of all necessary data from the laptop, so deleting everything is not a problem for me - it is rather the objective.

Will there be any difficulties reinstalling ThinkVantage software?
I'm giong for a more selective process, leaving out all of the bloatware appearing unused.

Looking forward to any helpful replies.
My apologies, as this question has probably been answered on numerous occasions.

You can't use rescue and recovery for a clean install. Do a search on this forum and there are plenty of HOW TO threads on doing a fresh install

Thanks... But all I can find involves CDs - and my X41 doesn't have a CD rom.

    Can I use R&R for a a semi-clean install?

What is installed with R&R ?

Does it wipe things out before installing?

    Buy an external DVD-drive.
