Hey guys, i'm new here, name's Michael.
I'm wondering whether or not anyone knows if IBM will come out with an ultraportable with a built in cd drive. I am debating whether to buy a notebook now, or in a few months. Also, i was looking into the x41 tablet. Since tablets are a new thing, i'm not sure if they are "perfected" yet and whether or not anyone knows if ibm will come out with a new tablet model soon.

    thanks!

no, IBM will not be introducing an ultraportable with a built-in CD drive -- at least not on the horizon meaning it'll be two years out if they do. I would suspect next spring/summer they'll upgrade the current X41 tablet, but nothing drastic -- just a processor bump. I'd say the Tablet PC is becoming pretty mature in it's production at this point, we've already seen a big shift to convertible rather than slate tablets and with the X41 tablet you have that type of a tablet.
