    Howdy!

    1. How long do you think before they will offer this chip in the x60 tablet?

    2. How much difference in running 1.83 with core duo vs core2duo?

If it matters I am planning on updating to vista when available for the tablet. My ideal system would be: 2.0 Ghz core2duo, 2gig 667 ram, verizon, touchscreen, 100gig 7200 rpm, bluetooth, a/b/g/n wireless.

Your thoughts and ideas would be much appreciated :)

C2D chips are about 10% faster clock-for-clock than CD chips. C2D also offers 64bit computing and larger cache. Battery life will be very similar.

Thanks guys. What I cannot figure out is why a third party vendor has x60's (non-tablet) with up to 2ghz core2duo's and lenovo doesnt show them on the website. Would they not put the low voltage in there? Here is the machine I am referring to: http://www.cdw.com/shop/products/default.aspx?EDC=1078714

The other day another poster said he got his from there and at the time it was listed at $1999.00. Now it says you have to call to order. Anyway, I am torn between coreduo and core2duo. I am still on my almost 4 year old t40 so I dont upgrade often.

There are 3 models of the X60: plain X60, which is can be had w/ c2d even from lenovo's site (e.g. here), the X60s which is their lighter, slower version - it has the LV core non2 duo. And the tablet, which also has the LV cpu.
To make things more confusing, lenovo still lists some plain X60's (non-s) with the core non2 duo chip. ugh :D

If you don't upgrade that often, would it hurt to wait 4 months for the LV c2d?

wow. that is weird. I am kinda in a pinch because I need this thing for business. 4 months would be too long. Now I am left with the decision as to wether or not to go for the regular x but with a core2

    Thanks for the info!

If you really don't have an existing need for tablet functionality, you really shouldn't even consider one...IMO. The MS Tablet OS is not as good as XP and I haven't heard what the Vista path for Tablet OS is...perhaps another forum member knows. The Tablet should only be in your consideration set if you have an application that requires tablet fuctionality (e.g. like healthcare, insurance, etc.)

Thanks for the info. Can you elaborate just a little. I am a traveling salesperson and will be using for web, outlook, maping programs. Thats it.
Thanks. I am now starting to sway a little towards another t.

Thanks Darius that helps. I am again leaning more toward the x60t as I have been browsing tabletpcreview.com and am hopeful that any shortcomings in xp pro tablet will be addressed with the release of vista. Thanks guys for all the help!
