I have the exact same screen as mentioned in this closed thread - http://forum.notebookreview.com/lenovo/254339-how-tell-what-kind-lcd-they-gave-me.html#post3409083

    Monitor ID: LEN4000
(The only data the freeware SIW (System Information for Windows) provided me - but is it enough?

If I go to the Parts Lookup on the Lenovo site it give me only product codes I am not able to decipher which one is the screen. How do I find out which screen I have?

Anyways, on my old X60 the black was much more darker than on my X61s. (Not to mention I had to return both models once because of backlight bleeding - a feature of the display installed in this series?) Did X60s (I mean, X60 series notebooks, not model X60s in particular) had better screens in general than X61 models?

Can you copy and paste the parts list from Lenovo's site that you're provided once you enter the serial number in the "parts lookup"? I'm fairly certain we'll be able to decipher it for you...

I believe Everest will tell you which screen it is.

The X60s and X61s did have or maybe it was an option, I can't remember, for a 180 nit LCD that was about 20% brighter than the standard screens. Time make have taken a toll on your CFFL bulb in your X60 more than the X61s, which may account for the difference as well.

As for the screens of that era, none were anything to write home about. I reviewed the X61s for NBR, which had the UltraBright LCD. While it was a bit brighter, it still offered limited contrast and angles. The X series of that era with the good screens were the tablets.

I don't know what your budget is, but if you want a X series with a good screen, I might suggest the X220 or X230 with the IPS LCD option. Plus, they're LED LCDs and won't dim over time like a bulb lit LCD. Sometimes they can cheaply in the outlet. eBay and the marketplace forum on ThinkPads.com are another good choice.

An option it was indeed...seldom found nowadays...

    Very true indeed.

Here are the parts list for both machines; enjoy! think.zip

What have you concluded out of it? The X61s has much fewer parts; perhaps more modern.
