On the IBM website it says the X60s can have a max of 2Gb of RAM, yet when I try to configure it you can add an extra 1GB (making total 1.5GB)???

    Anyone know why this is?

    Thanks a mill!

Hello.. isn't 1.5GB less than 2GB? Or am I missing something here?

What I meant is that you can only add up to 1.5 gb, you cannot get it up to 2gb.

You'd have to buy one with 1GB in the first slot, then add another 1GB stick.

Can't I just get lenovo to install it for me...I really don't want to buy a new laptop and start taking the case apart

If you can screw in a light bulb you can upgrade your memory. Simply unscrew (two screws) the small memnory cover on the bottom, and slide the memory stick into the slot. It's foolproof.

Total time to change: 60 seconds.

1337haxzor, I am a novice laptop user and bought a T60 recently and upgraded 512 MB RAM on my own. Initially I was also hesitant to upgrade RAM on my own, but later I had figured out that it was not that difficult. Refer the manual for help. You definitely save some bug by doing all these by your own. Usually buying RAM from Lenovo/IBM is not that good idea since it’s costly.

Thanks for the replies! I wasn't sure how/where extra RAM was installed on laptops, but it sounds easy enough so i'll probably get RAM from a third-party instead of Lenovo

Manual can be downloaded from Lenovo's site.
