I got my X60s yesterday.
It's amazingly small comparing with the 12" widescreen that I've owned. I like it.
But it gives me the feeling that I need to baby it, use it carefully, or I'll break it... On the other side, the D420 and V100 feel much sturdier. I can just toss them into the messenger bag and don't need to work about them.
when I close the lid on the X60s, push the center of the LCD back, I definitely see it's bending. and there are some play between the LCD and the bottom part.
The 'paint' on the LCD lid tends to leave scratch and will wear out pretty quick, as is happening at the corner.
owning a Thinkpad was my dream, but I really don't think the build quality is better than other business machines, like latitude...
My roommate has a T61. It feels sturdier than the X60s though.

what I know is the paint on the lid of a thinkpad won't wear out that quick. won't be the same after a while. but will keep in that look in years.

when you close the lid, is there any room to play between the lid and the bottom part of the laptop? mine doesn't fit dead on.
and the lid isn't very strong at all. -
just a little bit room on mine. should be fine. the good things of a thinkpad is the hinge.
the new rollcase lid is not available on X series yet. but the old ones should be strong enough. they are magnesium alloy. -
I like the x60s. it's very cute.
plus, the right side of the palmset is warmer, but it's not as bad as I read...
the d420 that I had is HOT at the bottom. the palm set on x60s is nothing comparing with that.
X60s feels flimsy?
