I would like install linux on my X60s but the only problem is that i don't have a dock. Is there any way do do it through the flash reader, or anything else. The big issue I am worried about is that if the installer can recognize the flash reader to boot it up.

I would suggest getting a 5.25" external enclosure, and sticking a desktop optical drive in it. These can be had for 30-40 bucks, and are recognized by almost all laptops these days.

If you want something to carry around with you, you might want something slim, like the item below:

Can you install it using the optical drive of another laptop, i.e. via network?

With some TFTP and RARP server you could do a network boot and then an Internet installation (e.g. Debian can do that).
