I have heard from a Lenovo rep that they are developing a new lightweight long-life battery for the X60/X60s. It has up to 7 hours life, sit flush to the notebook and not weigh much more than the standard battery.

The rep didn't know when it will be available though.
Has anyone else heard anything about this battery?

Also does anyone know when X60s's will be available in the UK with vista pre-installed?

Hmm, so close to the 8cel battery in performance and flush to the notebook?
Then it probably sticks out in the back because there haven't been such dramatic improvements to batteries in a long time.
Still nice though and would be interested when my current battery is out of shape.

Not what you asked but as it looks now Vista seems to drain more battery-life. And in my book that alone will make me wait.

You could be right, maybe it doesn't sit flush, but it must be very lightweight.

Below is a link to the computer I was talking to the Lenovo rep about (he was at insight when I enquired whether the weight was correct for a 8 cell battery powered X60, and the salesmen spoke to him on my behalf)

He comfirmed this battery is in development

I think everyone is working on that.
