I ordered X61 last week (ship date 7/11) and i just found out that XPS M1330 has been released.

I am seriously thinking about canceling X61 and ordering M1330.

Please tell me what you think about these two machines?

I really need an encouragement in order to either stay with X61 or switch to M1330.

    Thank you in advance.

I'm in the same boat as you right now, actually.

My ESD on the X61 is 6/28. If I'm hit with a delay, I'll probably cancel and go for the XPS M1330, otherwise, I think I'll stick with the Thinkpad.

Did you take a look at the four page thread immediately above this one titled "1330 vs t 61"? Guy gives impressions after handling both models.

In the same boat guys...the XPS M1330 looks like a pretty slick machine...with the 4 cell battery it weighs 3.9 lbs, close to the X61! But I still like the Thinkpad keyboard better....

    ARggg, decisions decisions.

    It's hard.

I was thinking about it yesterday too... But today my x61 just ship and will arrive tomorrow... so I decided not to think about it.

If you have doubts....why not just get the M1330. When you get your current order and there is something wrong with it, you are just going to continue to regret that you didn't take advantage of this situation.
Same thing can be said the other way, but at least you will get Dell support as from what I have read, their support is faster.

Well, for one, a similarly-specced machine would run me almost $500 more... =/

actually think about one thing which is if you get x61, you gotta get an external optical drive. Even a cheap one would cost you around $150.

So you might wanna take that into the concern of different prices.

This Dell looks like a chick's laptop IMO. I do like the strong graphics of GO 8400M but the glossy screeen and lack of Gigabyt are deal killers for me.

your preference on glossy vs. matte should swing you to the m1330 or x61, respectively. same with widescreen vs. standard aspect ratios. also, the xps has touchpad-only while the x61 has trackpoint-only.
