I have an X61 and the palm rest of it gets warm after just 20 minutes. It makes me feel unpleasant when typing  As I know, under the palm rest is the wireless card and it is the reason that make the palm rest becomes that hot :( I'm thinking of replace the Wireless card with an external USB wireless  Is there any better way to cooldown the palm rest rather than my above idea ? If not, can you guys give me some advice on choosing a good USB wireless :)

The only way to check whether your system has a second fan under the the trackpoint buttons is to remove the keyboard and the palmrest. Actually, you don't even have to remove the palmrest, just lift it slightly - you'll see immediately whether there is a fan installed or not. Check the X61 Hardware Maintenance Manual on parts removal procedures.

If the palmrest does get *hot* then it's very probable that you do not have a second fan installed. I'm not sure whether the second fan is a CRU, it's best to call Lenovo parts and ask.

There are two fans available for the X61 (both listed in the X6x HMM)
    - Second fan (FRU:42X3806) for 7666-CTO, 47x, 43x, 93x, 94x, E3x, E4x v 7667-CTO v 7668-CTO, 44x, 93x, 94x v 7669-CTO, 45x, 49x, 4Ax, 4Bx v 7670-CTO v 7671-CTO v 7673-CTO, 53x, 54x, 74x, 78x, 79x, 7Ax, 7Gx, 7Bx, 75x, 7Cx, 7Dx, 76x, 7Ex, 73x, 7Hx, 7Jx, 5Bx, 5Dx, A3x, A4x v 7674-CTO, 74x v 7675-55x, 59x, 75x, 7Fx, 7Kx, 5Ax, 5Bx v 7676-56x, 57x, 58x, 5Cx, 5Ex v 7678-CTO v 7673-CTO, HFx, HJx, JEx, JFx, JGx, K1x, K2x, K3x, K4x v 7674-CTO v 7675-CTO, H4x, H6x, H7x, H8x, H9x, HAx, HBx, HCx v 7676-CTO, K1x, K2x, K3x, J3x, J4x

There's also another type - a low profile fan for these machines:
    - Second fan, low profile (FRU: 42X4678) for 7666-CTO, 93x, 94x v 7667-CTO v 7668-CTO, 93x, 94x v 7669-CTO v 7673-CTO, 5Ax, 5Bx v 7674-CTO v 7675-CTO, 5Ax, 5Bx v 7676-CTO v 7673-CTO v 7674-CTO v 7675-CTO v 7676-CTO

Better check with Lenovo on ordering these parts. All depends if there's a connector for the fan to begin with.

    Cheers

I think just the X61s have two fans installed. Perhaps just that models
    with integrated mobile cards

    Not a X61.

The X61s is a little cooler anyway due to the low voltage processor.

Make sure that you go into power management and select "maximum power saving" under wifi. It makes a huge difference in the heat output from the wireless card. I've tested download speeds using both "max power savings" and "max performance" and there is no difference. The performance difference probably only affects the range that your wifi can work well. In most settings this shouldn't be a problem.
