When the cover is closed, should it be tight?
Mine seems as if it's not locked completely and gives a little.

It should be fairly tight - while I dont have an X series (I have a T60), it does give a little, but only barely.

    Anyone else with this problem?
I really don't want to have to get it repaired as I just got it.

Should be normal. My T40 has about 1mm of movement when it's closed. ThinkPads don't have rubber bumpers so it might not be as tight as other notebooks.
