I want to order the X61 but the screen options have changed.

    If you get it with

    Intel® Core™ 2 Duo T7250 NV (2.0GHz, 2MB L2, 800MHz FSB), the screen is
12.1" XGA STD, 2x3 UltraConnect II antenna

and with 12.1" XGA STD, 2x3 UltraConnect II antenna you get
12.1" XGA STD, 2x3 UltraConnect II antenna

What's the difference between the STD and TFT screens. Is there any visual difference? I've seen X61 TFT screen and it's not great. I am wondering if STD is any better but for less money it's likely not to be.

I don't hthink there is a difference between the actual screens since they are both XGA. They are both 1024x768.

Yeah, the resolution is the same but brightness, contrast and etc could be different as is the case with the X61s screen option.

If you look up the FRU part ID's the two screens have identical specs I can't see a difference between the two units other then antenna configuration.

STD=Standard LCD while TFT is the new Technology for LCD screens.

If you read the FRU available for the X61 they are BOTH TFT units which makes no sense if there was a difference between the LCD and the TFT shown.

FRUS dont tell you much because they can vary from the 6 and 7 series. Using internal lookup tells you much more.

I called my friend who is an engineer in Raleigh for Lenovo, and informs me that there are only TFT screens made for the X61 the variance between the two is in the WWAN frame around the actual LCD. The confusion between the STD and TFT on the website is a typo.

This is a strange to me too, but I believe Kevin is right and its the bezel that differs with wwan cables in it. I am getting a WWAN X61 Monday so I'll see how that works. My X61 and my wife's are the identical builds so hard to tell.

I know with the X60 they are different between the 6 and 7 series. Many a times have our laptops come back from depot were they put a 6 series lcd into a 7 series and the image is FUBAR [IMG]

The odd thing is that the LCD only changes when selecting between the CPU's.

I remember that too. I have a 7 series X61, but I am curious to see if it really is different.

The only difference that I can see between the screens is that some are ROHS, FRU's 42X and the 41X are not ROHS. The rear cover assembly is what holds the WWAN or MIMO antenna.

    Also the X61 7767-BFG is a touchscreen

All the X61/X61S are 7 series while the X61 Tablet is the only one with 6 and 7 series. The X61 Tablets have the G4 and G5 screens.
