    will the memory controller just not address that much? Also, if I installed all 8GB, would all that be addressable, assuming I had a 64-bit operating system installed?

    The chipset only supports 8GB.

    What are you going to be doing that requires 16GB Ram? I've also heard people have maxed out their 4GB very impressive. I rarely even max 3GB on virtual machines.

    Perhaps he is going to launch 8 VMs at same time or compile 16 Linux's kernels (all these stuff on low volt CPU :D). Or hmm... maybe installing Windows into ramdisk to make it suck less? :p

    The ThinkPad X61 Tablet only supports a maximum of 4GB with a maximum of 2GB per slot.

    I hardly max out 4GB on my machine, so you should be fine with that unless like ThinkLover said, you are trying to run 8VMs....

    X61,s,t can support max of 8 gigs.

    I would like a bit more than 8GB too - as Firefox is now taking up more than 2.5 GB of RAM at present! (a few tabs open... :p)

    However, most of the current notebook/tablet convertibles seem to be limited to 8GB only, unfortunately!
